Counting Down

I started my final clinical rotation on Monday and graduate from pharmacy school 5 weeks from today! My rotation is at the Utah Diabetes Center and I have learned a lot so far. Although I am super excited to graduate I have been having a mini identity crisis lately. I have been a student for so long that I don't know how to be a "normal person" (if any such person actually exists). Plus, at times I don't feel ready to be the pharmacist and make the tough judgment calls. Ready or not, it's coming fast and this is an exciting time in my life. Carl graduates 4 weeks from today and I am so proud of him. He has worked so hard to finish his degree while at the same time supporting us and fulfilling his military duties. He is an amazing person!

I did have the opportunity to go to Vernal last week for a couple of days with my mom, Abby, Issac, and Izzy. We spent time with my Grandma Merrill and I also spent a day with my Grandma Massey, Dad, and Cheryl (my stepmom). Here is a picture of the kids dying Easter Eggs at Grandma Merrill's house.

The Third Member of the Spear Family

This is Firebolt, the oft forgotten third member of our family. He was affectionately named after Harry Potter's infamous broom, and the name fits him well. He has quite a bit of personality for a fish that lives next to the computer. We thought about getting a dog or a cat for a pet, but we don't have the time to take care of a dog and I am allergic to cats. We think he likes it at our house, although he has had 2 near-death experiences since moving in. One involved a nasty case of swim bladder disorder that left him looking like he was dead for two days, and the other involved being accidentally poured onto the kitchen counter during his water change. Good thing he is a forgiving fish.

A Day Out at the Range

On Saturday I had the rare opportunity to go watch Carl shoot out at the gunnery range west of the Great Salt Lake. Carl's National Guard Unit only does gunnery once a year, so it's not something you get to see every day. Gunnery is where the Apache pilots practice shooting rockets and other ammo at targets (usually old tanks or such). The coolest part is that they let us wives fly in a Blackhawk helicopter out to the range. This is a picture of me buckled up ready for the flight.

This is Carl's Apache making a round preparing to shoot.

This is the only good shot I got of one of the guns actually firing. The targets are the small black dots you see next to the road at a distance.
